Silica gel SG5 is a highly effective desiccant that provides ideal conditions for keeping 3D printing filaments in perfect condition. This transparent silica gel with 99.5% SiO2 purity is the perfect choice for 3D printing users who want to ensure the longevity and high quality of their materials.

Main characteristics
Bead size 3-5 mm
Active surface area of 800 m2/g
Ability to absorb up to 36% of weight at 90% humidity
Reusable due to easy regeneration
Use in 3D printing
Filament protection

Silica gel SG5 is essential for proper filament storage. Placing this desiccant in the filament boxes will reduce the ambient humidity, resulting in:

Extended filament life.
Prevention of moisture absorption by the material
Improving print quality
Compatibility with AMS Bambulab

This silica gel is a great choice for use in Bambulab's AMS (Automatic Material System). The optimum bead size allows for efficient air circulation and maximum moisture absorption in a closed AMS environment.

Technical data
Bulk density: 620 - 700 g/l
pH: 4-6
Pore diameter: 2.0-3.0 nm
Pore volume: 0.35-0.45 ml/g
Thermal conductivity: 0.63 KJ/m.h
Regeneration and reuse
Silica gel SG5 can be easily regenerated, making it an economical and environmentally friendly choice for long-term use.

In an electric or gas oven
Optimum temperature: 120-160°C
Regeneration time: Depends on the amount of silica gel
Procedure

Evaporation of water from silica gel occurs at temperatures above 110°C. Regeneration is complete when no more steam comes out of the silica gel.
In a microwave oven
Power: 600W
Time: Approximately 3 minutes per 100g of wet silica gel
Procedure

Use a 200°C temperature-resistant container, which must not be metal or plastic (cooking glass or ceramic is ideal).
Allow approx. 3 minutes for every 100 g of moist silica gel.
Then check whether steam is still forming. Continue only if steam is forming.
If you continue even if steam is no longer forming, the silica gel may overheat to 240°C, which may cause it to crack and possibly rupture the container.
If you use silica gel with an indicator, the colour will only change to orange when it has cooled down.
Tip: After regeneration, allow the silica gel to cool before using again.
