PolyMax™ PC-FR, a product from Covestro's Makrolon® range, has achieved a V0 performance in the UL94 fire test and exhibits excellent toughness, strength and heat resistance. This fibre opens up new applications in the automotive, rail and aerospace industries.
Has PolyMax™ PC-FR been third party tested?
Yes, PolyMax™ PC-FR has been tested by SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services Co, Ldt.
Test Method:
IEC 60695-11-10:2013/Cor.1:2014 Method B
Result:
Result: Classification: V-0

Printing, drying and annealing settings?
Printing temperature: 250˚C - 270˚C
Bed temperature: 90˚C - 105˚C
Chamber temperature: 90˚C - 100˚C
Print speed: 30 mm/s - 50 mm/s
Fan: OFF
Drying setting: 75˚C for 6 hours
(Only if the material has absorbed moisture)
Annealing setting: 90˚ for 2h
Does FR affect the mechanical properties?
Yes, the addition of FR will make the material less ductile, which means higher tensile strength and Young's modulus (greater stiffness). However, PC will retain its high impact and high heat resistance.
