Polyethylene terephthalate glycol (PET-G) is one of the most popular printing materials with versatile applications. It can be considered as a combination of the best properties of PLA and ABS. It is similarly easy to print as PLA, while at the same time providing similar stiffness and properties as ABS. Compared to PLA, it has a higher heat resistance, which expands its possibilities within functional applications.
PETG is formed by combining polyethylene terephthalate (PET) with different concentrations of glycol, giving it a less brittle structure, a brighter appearance and improved printing properties.
Keep in mind that PETG is slightly hygroscopic, which means it absorbs moisture from its surroundings. Therefore, it is important to keep it dry, either by storing it in a dry environment or using a fiber dehumidifier. The printing string is carefully wound onto a spool and supplied vacuum packed together with a moisture absorber.
